Artist Talk: Amber-Dawn Bear Robe

Artist Talk: Amber-Dawn Bear Robe

Behind the Scenes and Q & A with the fashion show creator

 Monday, January 31, 7:15 p.m.

Bring all of your questions and take a look behind the curtains of the largest and most prestigious art fair for contemporary Indigenous fashion: What inspired her to create the show? What is it like to work with designers and models? And what does it take to produce such a high-class fashion event? Show producer Amber-Dawn answers all your questions and offers a deep insight into her work and Indigeneous art.

In 2014, Amber-Dawn Bear Robe from the Siksika Nation, Alberta, Canada, organized the first official Haute Couture Fashion Show for the Southwestern Association for Indian Arts (SWAIA) as part of their program for the annually Santa Fe Indian Market. Since then, the event has grown with the years, with over 1000 people in the audience, over 100 models wearing the collections from 8 to 12 designers in 2021. She holds an MA in American Indian Studies and a second MA in Art History, both from the University of Arizona.
